Day 10 – Reeth to Catterick – 15.5 miles (122 miles)

We had a lovely breakfast to get us started, and opted to take the hot food away with us as sandwiches.

The walking today is about 15 miles, but should be fairly easy, so we set off about 9am.

Our main morning break was a nice patch of grass with a view 😁.

Unfortunately, my knee gave way at 5 miles when we made a 12% gradient descent down a road. We had a short break in a church, which was selling light refreshments and when we carried on, I realised that my knee now hurts going up, as well as down!!! Not good. I hobbled along to Richmond, and our group slowed down to accommodate me, so we could arrive together.

When we got to the shops in Richmond, Dean went looking for a leg brace for me.

It’s large, but it meant I could now finish the days’ walk to Catterick. Along the way, we met an old man who had lost his dog and asked us to look for her. The dog was having a fun time by the river but wouldn’t just go home, so Julie called the owner and waited to ensure the dog and it’s owners were reunited. Dean and I went to check us into the Farmers Arms, and discovered that they don’t have a chef on Mondays so no dinner, unless we ordered a takeaway from somewhere!!

So the day ended a lot more eventfully than it started 😁.
