Day 13 – Chop Gate, Urra to Seavey Hill car park – 12 miles (164.5 miles)

This morning was another relaxed start as we’re only doing 12 miles and most of it is flat going over the moors.

So we had a lovely breakfast and left via a footpath to remain the route. However, the footpath was pretty much straight up! But at the top, was a lovely view and the flat moors.

After walking 3 miles, we had a break by the side of the road, trying to get out of the wind.

The streams in this area look orange because of the minerals and iron in the soil.

It was quite a long, bland walk this morning. The path is an old railway line and is black charcoal, so our legs were getting dirty too. Julie and I found it quite boring tbh 😴.

The highlight of the first 9 miles was seeing some grouse families 😁.

And then arriving at the Lion Inn for lunch.

After lunch we walked a further 3 miles to a car park to be picked up by the b&b owner, Michael.

And his lovely wife, Mary, washed and dried my clothes so I didn’t have to 😁.

Only 2 more days of walking to go now. I’m really looking forward to a long soak in a bath 😂.
